Hi! My name is Mrs. Amanda Erickson! I currently live in Farmington, Minnesota with my husband (Dan), son (Kasen), daughter (Raelynn) and our three dogs (Turbo, Duke and Dino). I am a Minnesota Sports fan, but my favorite sport to watch is Hockey (Go Wild!) As a family, we like to be outdoors. We enjoy fishing, going to regional parks, walks, bonfires, and playing in the yard. I grew up in Farmington, Minnesota with my mom, dad and two younger sisters. It was in Farmington that I realized that teaching was what I wanted to do for my career. I was a struggling student and my fifth grade teacher took the time to help me become a better reader. This inspired me to help other students reach their goals. It is hard for me to believe that I will be entering my 7th year as a teacher this year! I started working with children in schools when I participated in the high school service learning program which allowed me to go to Elementary schools and volunteer. After high school, I got married and moved to Japan where I lived on a military base and substituted in Elementary while I got my degree online at the University of Phoenix. It was here that I got my first long term substitute job teaching third grade. After four years of living abroad, we got to change duty stations and we moved to North Carolina. I finished my Bachelor’s of Science in Elementary Education and got my first job teaching 5th grade Science at a local elementary school. I moved back to Minnesota 4 years ago and I am so glad to be back up here with my family, cooler weather, and winters! Since moving back to Farmington in 2017 with my son, I have been teaching in Farmington Public Schools in first grade, third grade and fourth/fifth grade. I am so excited to have the opportunity to come and teach here in Goodhue Public Schools! I am looking forward to being a part of this amazing school and community!
